"Tiang" means the stick, in Malaysia, besides light posts, there are also many tiangs. These tiangs carry cables that delivery electricity to every household, they also carry telephone line. So these "Tiangs" are very important.

Imagine you buy a new house, and this is what you see:
A big big tiang at your front door! Or, this passanger fly over integrated the tiang into the design.

Those who stay in Singapore I think this is the first time you see those "tiang".
